Pratt adopted Printout |
I must like Fabio-type horses. Of all the horses I have seen at the racetrack as a volunteer with FFI, and of all the horses that have come through the FFI rehabilitation program, none have made me double-take like Printout. When Printout was donated to us off the track, he had a broad chest, a thick neck, a well-muscled body…and a fractured leg. With guarded interest, I was involved in Printout’s rehabilitation and watched as his personality won him many admirers at the barn. When we first rode him after his recovery, it was a big surprise that this record-holding racehorse was so gentle and steady under saddle. Well, Printout is not so Fabio now that he is not longer racing. I think he’s more like Peyton Manning…lean, athletic, generous, funny (if not sometimes goofy) and totally devoted to the job…of being my horse. |

First she was a successful racehorse, then she became a broodmare.
Sunny Diamond's last career is being my first horse. Everyday
I see her I comment on her power and her beauty. I struggle putting
how I feel about this horse into words. She embodies everything
that is good and bad about racing. She was once unwanted, to me
Diamond is a gift. |
